One-day seminars provide required and continuing education opportunities for assessors and appraisers. They are produced by the Institute of Assessing Officers, the professional instruction arm of the NYS Assessors Association.
Reminder: New York State will not reimburse or give credits for any class taken twice within a three-year period.
As of July 1, 2021, all online class attendees are required to have a camera and microphone, and the camera must be on at all times during instruction.
All one-day seminars are held online via Zoom, from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., unless otherwise indicated. The link is sent to all registrants the day before the class is held. Lunch is on your own. Please plan accordingly.
This is a hands-on class where students will become more proficient using/creating the most prevalent standard and custom reports. There is more than one way to obtain specific reports, and students will discover which way works the best for them. The class will include easy ways to share report options with others and will be centered on a “how to” approach. Students are encouraged to bring questions.
March 19, 2025
Instructor Warren J. Wheeler, IAO
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
This introductory course will assist attendees with using the HP-12c financial calculator. Attendees will learn how to use some of the key functions and perform calculations including the time value of money (TVM). Several real-life examples will assist attendees with both basic and advanced functions. The six functions of a dollar will be explained in detail. The key to using the HP-12c is to recognize how the HP-12c is different from standard calculators, specifically Reverse Polish Notation (RPN), and how this method can streamline the calculations. By the end of this course, attendees will have a much better understanding of the HP-12c. Attendees should have their own HP-12c to follow along with the instructor. Not approved for DOS credit.
