NYSAA offers some of the classes required for assessors seeking basic certification. They are produced by the Institute of Assessing Officers, the professional instruction arm of the NYS Assessors Association.
The basic certification classes that NYSAA offers are:
Cost, Market and Income Approach to Value: NYSAA offers this as two classes: Course 1: Appraisal Principles and Procedures and Course 2: Application of the Three Approaches to Value).
NYSAA usually holds Course 1 early in the year and again in July at the Cornell Seminar in Ithaca. Course 2 is usually held in July at the Cornell Seminar in Ithaca and again in the fall.
Course 1 and Course 2 will next be offered at the Cornell Seminar on Professional Development, July 13-18, 2025 at the Hotel Ithaca in Ithaca, NY. It is not yet open for registration.
Commercial / Industrial Valuation: This class is usually offered every June.
