The Institute of Assessing Officers, which is chartered by the New York State Board of Regents, is the professional and educational arm of the NYSAA. Membership and the right to use the IAO designation are gained by satisfying certain experience requirements and by the successful completion of an examination covering all aspects of appraisal and assessment administration. An assessor with "IAO" after his or her name is recognized as one who has achieved the highest level of professional competence.
The IAO exam will be offered on Friday, February 28, 2020 at the Greenburgh Town Hall, 177 Hillside Ave., 2nd Floor, White Plains, NY. If you would like to challenge the exam, your application must be postmarked no later than January 31, 2020 and mailed to:

Be sure to review the Instructions for Candidates (below) and the Membership sections of the IAO Constitution and Bylaws to determine if you are eligible to take the exam. Your application must include your check or ready-for-signature voucher in the amount of $50.00. After review by the IAO Exam Committee, applicants will be notified if they are eligible to sit for the exam.
